Migrating your data from Cronometer to macros.gg

This guide explains step by step how to export your history from Cronometer and import it seamlessly into macros.gg. It takes about ten minutes.

You'll need a free macros.gg account — .

Exporting from Cronometer

NOTE: Cronometer's export only works on their website, so this is easiest done on a computer.

1

Go to your Cronometer account settings

Exporting only works on the website, not the mobile app. You can also get there from the sidebar under More → Your Account.

2

Open Export Data

It's in the Account Data section, a short scroll down the page.

3

Export your data

In the Export Data dialog, set the range to All Time, then click Export Daily Nutrition — that's the one that matters. Also click Export Food & Recipe Entries and Export Biometrics to bring your custom foods and weigh-ins along. You'll get a file from each:

  • Export Daily Nutrition dailysummary.csvrequired
  • Export Food & Recipe Entries servings.csvoptional — custom foods
  • Export Biometrics biometrics.csvoptional — weight history
Make sure Include diary group rows is checked before exporting your Daily Nutrition — without it, your custom foods can't be recreated.

FAQ

Should I import before I start logging here?
Ideally, yes — make the import your first move. If you've already logged today in both apps, today's Cronometer totals are added on top of what you've logged here; the preview warns you before that happens.
Will imported days count toward my streak or XP?
No — by design. Imported history shows in your diary and trends, but streaks, XP, achievements, and leaderboards only ever count what you log here yourself.
Why one entry per day instead of my individual foods?
Cronometer's export doesn't include per-food macros — only daily and per-meal totals. We import the exact daily numbers rather than guessing at the rest.
What happens to my custom foods and recipes?
When a custom food appears alone in a meal, its macros can be worked out exactly, and it's recreated in your saved foods. Foods that never appear alone are listed in the preview so you know to re-add them yourself from the Foods page.
Can I re-run the import later with newer data?
Yes. Days that were already imported are skipped automatically, so exporting again next month just fills in the gap.
Something not importing?
